Chad Hungate – Owner/Partner L & M Electric Motors
Chad Hungate brings a lifetime of technical expertise, discipline, and hands-on experience to L & M Electric Motors. Originally from Northwest Ohio, Chad began his career immediately after high school by joining the United States Air Force, where he trained and served as a Jet Engine Specialist. He was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana, working on high-performance aircraft propulsion systems early in his professional journey.
Following his military service, Chad continued in aviation as a Senior Jet Engine Mechanic with Eastern Airlines in Miami, Florida, further deepening his experience with complex mechanical systems and precision maintenance.
Chad expanded his technical skill set by completing multiple nationally recognized apprenticeship programs. He is a Journeyman Electrician, having graduated from a rigorous four-year Locomotive Electrician Apprenticeship with Norfolk Southern Railroad in Bellevue, Ohio. He also earned his credentials as a Journeyman Boilermaker through the four-year Boilermakers National Apprenticeship Program in Rossford, Ohio, gaining extensive experience in welding, industrial maintenance, and work within power plants, combustion turbine facilities, refineries, and other large-scale industrial environments.
Most recently, Chad spent over 20 years with Pratt & Whitney in Columbus, Georgia, serving as a Senior Quality and Operations Team Member specializing in the overhaul of both commercial and military jet engines. His role demanded exceptional attention to detail, strict adherence to quality standards, and a deep understanding of mission-critical systems, experience that directly translates into the high standards upheld at L & M Electric Motors.
Outside of work, Chad enjoys fishing, 3D printing, and coin collecting, interests that reflect his patience, curiosity, and appreciation for craftsmanship and precision.
With a career spanning military aviation, commercial aerospace, rail systems, industrial power, and advanced manufacturing, Chad brings unmatched depth of knowledge and a strong commitment to quality, safety, and reliability to every project he supports at L & M Electric Motors.
Meet Bree – Office Manager at L & M Electric Motors
Hi, I’m Bree, the Office Manager here at L & M Electric Motors. With years of experience in accounting and customer service, I enjoy putting my skills to work while serving our community. My goal is to create a warm and welcoming experience for every customer who walks through
our doors, all while keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.
I’m also excited to continue learning about all types of electric motors, how they run and operate, so that I can professionally assist each and every customer who comes our way.
Outside of work, I’m a proud mother of two boys. Music, church, and good food are essentials in my life, and my values of family, honesty, and respect guide everything I do, both personally and professionally.
Tim Leonard – Founder/Master Motor Winder
With more than 40 years of experience, Tim Leonard is the master motor winder at L & M Electric Motors. His expertise covers every step of the process, disassembling motors, thoroughly cleaning them, replacing bearings and capacitors, and expertly rewinding them to restore performance and reliability.
Known for his precision and craftsmanship, Tim has built a reputation for quality work that customers can depend on. His decades of hands-on experience make him an invaluable part of the business, and his dedication ensures that every motor leaving the shop meets the highest standards.
Together, Courtney and Tim Leonard combine experience and innovation, blending his decades of technical expertise with her creativity and customer-focused approach, to keep L & M Electric Motors strong, reliable, and growing.
Courtney Leonard – Office Manager/Social Media Director
For the past eight years, Courtney has served as the secretary and office manager at L & M Electric Motors. She kept the business running smoothly by handling everything from answering phones and managing paperwork to assisting customers with respect and care. Her organization, dedication, and
strong communication skills made her the go-to person for both customers and employees.
Handing off these responsibilities and role to our new employee, Courtney is now stepping into the position of Social Media Director. In this role, she creates and shares engaging content including educational videos, behind-the-scenes looks, funny moments, and informative posts to help customers learn more about what L & M Electric Motors does and how they do it. Her creativity and passion for connecting with people ensure that the business not only thrives in the shop, but also online.
